The B+W filter manufacturing company was founded in Berlin in 1947 by business partners Biermann and Weber. In 1985 the merger with the Jos. Schneider Optical Works in Bad Kreuznach expanded the B+W line of products with optical filters for science and technology. It also generated significant progress in multi-layer coating systems (MC). As a result, B+W became the first manufacturer of filters in the world to offer the innovative water- and dirt repelling MRC multi-layer coating process, which, in addition to its reflection-preventing qualities is also regarded as being especially scratch-resistant.The B+W filter manufacturing company was founded in Berlin in 1947 by business partners Biermann and Weber.
In Bad Kreuznach, the most modern fabrication machines produce highly precise filters in an impressive variety of types and diameters. Quality controls are integrated at all key stages of the production process, and a final inspection of every individual filter ensures the renowned high B+W quality standard. At B+W, our commitment to our guarantee and service are taken seriously. Continuous improvements and new developments enable users to achieve their best possible images. By comparison, a cheap filter can reduce the imaging performance of a high-quality lens quite dramatically! Therefore, consider the quality of a filter as seriously as you would consider the choice of your lenses – look for the B+W brand, because the quality of the image depends upon what is in front of the lens!

Apo-Componon HM
The Apo-Componon HM. lens is apochromatically corrected. It also meets all the demands and high-quality standards of professional and amateur photographers with respect to the image performance of their enlargements. Further, the Apo-Componon meets the strict requirements necessary to be used by engineers in the industrial world. Resolving power, contrast, color correction, and multi-coating guarantee great image quality even under extreme conditions.
Schneider manufactures its optics with a high degree of precision, ensuring the lasting quality of the Apo-Componon HM. The design has been adjusted to the special requirements of high-quality enlarging techniques. For 40mm, 45mm, 60mm, and 90mm focal lengths it has been equipped with a luminous aperture scale, illuminated setting index, preset iris, and click stops which can be disengaged. The preset iris allows the diaphragm to be opened after setting the working apertures in order to correct the image sector or focusing. Afterwards, the diaphragm can be reset easily.
Componon
The SCHNEIDER lenses of the COMPONON series have been in wide use for many years as professional enlarging lenses of 35 mm and medium formats with linear magnifications between 2 and 20 times.
Their optical design adapted to the different negative sizes - six elements in four components - and the type of correction used guarantee high-contrast rendition and excellent reproduction of even the most minute negative detail.
Mechanically, the Schneider COMPONONS also match the latest state of the art with illuminated aperture scales, click stops as well as stop-less aperture adjustments and with preset aperture controls.
Disengaging the click stop system permits precise fine adjustment of the aperture when working with color analyzers and other meter systems. Once the lens is stopped down to the desired aperture, the preset control allows it to be reopened fully for cropping and/or refocusing, and then stopped down again to the working aperture shown on the luminous scale.
